Cameron Station

Cameron Station, formerly an Army Base for defense logistics, has been labeled one of the most successful base conversions within the United States. It is destined to become a highly desirable mixed-use community in the heart of Alexandria, Virginia. The proposed 2,500 unit residential development is comprised of a variety of unit types with a small core of retail, office and recreational uses. Two major city parks located at both ends of the community will become the major recreational amenities. Cameron Station has a strong urban character with a pedestrian scale and orientation. A hierarchy of streets divides the project into clearly identifiable neighborhoods, while special parks serve as focal points and community gathering places. Within the Design Guidelines, ParkerRodriguez developed a palette of urban design, architectural and detailed elements. These guidelines provide the framework for an urbane and lively streetscape.
