University Town Center

ParkerRodriguez was asked to create a new concept to revitalize three 1960's aging office buildings surrounded by acres of surface parking. Our urban designers proposed a new urban boulevard lined with shops, passing longitudinally between the buildings; 3,000 surface parking spaces would be replaced by three parking structures. The parking lots land recovered in the process would be turned into apartments, condos, retail, restaurants and more office space. A central plaza would become the hub of vibrant night life for this suburb near the University of Maryland. ParkerRodriguez, Inc. secured the complex rezoning for the entire 40-acre site with their vision , then worked with renowned architects RTKL and WDG Architect, among others, to develop a contemporary entertainment retail and mixed-use development. ParkerRodriguez landscape architects are now designing the featured plaza including fountain, sculpture, performance area, sidewalk cafes, and grand stairway to an upper plaza.
