Adventist Healing Gardens

Silver Spring | MD

A key element of the new campus for Washington Adventist Hospital is a series of outdoor gardens serving as passive recreation as well as a major therapeutic instrument. The need to reintroduce healing environments as part of the overall health care is growing stronger and is backed by medical studies confirming the beneficial effects of nature and the outdoors. Relief of physical symptoms, stress reduction, and improvement of the overall sense of well being make a great contribution to the healing process and should be part of a healthcare setting.

There has been great impetus in the design of Washington Adventist Hospital’s new campus to be a patient-centered health care environment in a cost effective new facility that delivers a supportive design. The unique nature of this campus delivers a state of the art healthcare facility in a nurturing landscape setting that takes advantage of the surrounding woods and the beautiful lake within the property. These outdoor areas become part of the experience for patients, staff and visitors alike.
