Element 28

Bethesda | MD

This apartment high-rise building in the heart of Bethesda will feature street level retail and a contemporary entry plaza. The entry plaza will serve as an intimate vest pocket park in the urban landscape including a highly designed plaza pavilion, high quality paving materials, creative lighting, and lush plantings.

The planting areas within the plaza will provide visual interest throughout all seasons, help to reduce heat gain, provide a visual buffer to the service areas of adjacent properties, and be actively used in storm water filtration for the site.  Excess storm water from the roof and penthouse will be redirected to the plaza and day-lighted to a rain ladder channeled into a vegetated storm water filtration planter, providing a visible water trail that will illustrate the journey of rainwater during storm events.

A roof terrace will provide amenities for the building residents such as a linear fire element and an outdoor grilling area as well as opportunities for outdoor seating and gathering.  A strong indoor/outdoor relationship has been created between the roof terrace club room and the outdoor terrace rooms.
